History of Tipperary Credit Union Limited

  • The Inaugural meeting of Tipperary Credit Union took place on the 6th November 1967.
  • In 1975 Tipperary Credit Unions old premises at 15 O'Brien was purchased.
  • In 1981Tipperary Credit Union appointed its first full time staff and by 1998 there were 9 Full-time staff employed. 
  • In 1986 Tipperary Credit Union purchased their first computer and in 1992 and in 1999 a major upgrade of the Credit Union Computer system was implemented.
  • In 1988 Tipperary Credit Union celebrated its 21st Anniversary and were awarded a Civic Reception by Tipperary UDC for their services to the community.
  • In 1984 the Doon Branch of Tipperary Credit Union was opened and over the years Hollyford, Cappawhite, Dundrum, Emly and Oola branches were opened. 
  • In 1997 Tipperary Credit Union appointed a CEO and the building of a new €1.3 million premises began at Emmet Street Tipperary.
  • In March 1999 Tipperary Credit Union moved into their new premises at Emmet Street Tipperary.
  • In September 1999 Doon Branch became the first branch of Tipperary Credit Union to go online to the head office.
  • In 2003 new branch premises were opened in Emly and Cappwhite and the Emly, Cappawhite, Hollyford, Dundrum were linked the main computer server in Tipperary.
  • Tipperary Credit Union undertook a major computer upgrade in 2004 changing software systems to Wellington Computers in Belfast.
  • In 2004 Tipperary Credit Union purchased the old Kielys Bakery Site for Development.
  • By 2005 there were 13 full time staff and 10 part time staff.
  • In 2007 Tipperary Credit Union celebrated its 40th Anniversary and were awarded a Civic Reception by Tipperary UDC for their services to the community.
  • In 2007 Tipperary Credit Union launhed its cumoney ATM card and cueasypay EFT services
