Transition Year Bursary Awards

This is the first year we held the Transition Year Bursary Awards. The cost of putting a child through Transition Year can range from €500 to €1,000 depending on the school. As a result of this very costly expense the Transition Year Bursary was created. The four secondary schools in our common bond each get €500 for one student to help with the expense of the year. In order to enter the student had to complete an application form and return it to Tipperary Credit Union. We would like to thank all the students who took the time to fill out the entry forms. Pictured are the recipients for this year awards were:

  • Cliona Roche St Ailbe’s Secondary School
  • Anna Ryan Scoil na Trionoide Naofa
  • Helen Treacy (Tipperary Credit Union)
  • James Hanly The Abbey CBS Secondary School
  • Ava O’Callaghan St Anne’s Secondary School

Digital Media Competition

This year Tipperary Credit Union decided to run a Digital Media Competition for students. Our goal was to engage with our younger members in a medium that they can relate to.  Their task was to create a 30-60 second advert about Tipperary Credit Union using the theme “The Credit Union Difference”. Three schools: St Anne’s, The Abbey CBS and Scoil na Trionoide Naofa Secondary School (Doon) came on board. The prize was €2,000 for digital media equipment for their school. The competition was a resounding success! The entries were amazing and really took us by surprise by how professional and creative they were. All the videos can be found on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/tipperarycu/ and we would encourage everybody to view them.

Tipperary Credit Union would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students who participated in the competition, their teachers and schools for encouraging them and supporting them. A special thanks to Tipperary Credit Union’s Youth Committee and Board whose vision and hard work made this competition possible.

All Ireland Art Competition Awards and Exhibition.

Each year in February the Irish League of Credit Unions hosts the annual All Ireland Art Competition Awards and Exhibition. The event recognises aspiring artists from all over the country. This year the awards took place at Croke Park where family, friends and staff representing credit unions from all over Ireland joined Marty Whelan to recognise the outstanding talent on display. We are delighted to congratulate Benjiman Franklin who was runner up in his category. He is pictured here with his family, Marty Whelan and the President of the Irish League of Credit Unions Brian McCrory. Well done Benjamin you have done Tipperary Credit Union very proud! We would also like to thank everybody who particpated in the art competition this year. There was a very high standard of art produced and it is a competition that Tipperary Credit Union loves being a part of. We hope to see some new and old faces again next year.

UL Huskies have a membership of almost 150 players and are the only Club in Limerick that run a Womens Div 1 and Womens Superleague Teams. Formally known as UL Basketball Club they are now called UL Huskies Basketball Club. Their aim is to develop players from the local community and lead them and their teams to national success at the highest level of National League and National Cup level.
