Volunteer with Tipperary Credit Union

The credit union movement is founded on principles of cooperation, equality and mutual self- help and the efforts of thousands of volunteers who freely give their time and skills to benefit their local Credit Union. Tipperary Credit Union relies considerably on the enthusiasm, commitment and integrity of its volunteers.

Why volunteer at Tipperary Credit Union?

In the spirit of cooperation, Tipperary Credit Union has a team of volunteers who help to manage the Credit Union. We always welcome new volunteers and wish to invite anyone who is interested in volunteering to get in touch with us. Volunteering at Tipperary Credit Union will not only benefit the Credit Union as a business, but you will also gain personal and professional experience. While skills and relevant qualifications are important to the Credit Union, volunteers with life skills are equally important as they can be a rich source of inspiration. To ensure the credit union remains relevant to the local community a mix of backgrounds and walks of life are required.

Why people volunteer:

  • To learn new skills
  • To develop new interests
  • To use professional skills
  • To increase self-confidence
  • To have a purpose, sense of achievement
  • To do something they enjoy
  • To make a difference, a desire to help others
  • To give back to the community
  • To meet new people and have a sense of belonging
  • To increase employability
  • How do I become a Volunteer?

The credit union committees offer an excellent starting point for new volunteers. These committees provide experience, learning and an active role within the credit union. Once a volunteer has served the credit union at committee level for a period of time, and training needs have been identified and addressed, you can move into a director or oversight position.

So you think you have nothing to offer?

Yes you have – everyone has something to offer the credit union. You don’t need to be a financial expert or a wizard on the PC. Talk to us at Tipperary Credit Union and find out what your potential contribution could be. We would expect some time commitment – how much, is for you to decide. Start with a few hours per month and see how it goes.

Don’t know much about credit unions?

Don’t worry, you can learn. The credit union will provide training as part of the induction process. You’ll be surprised how quickly you will pick things up.

Ok, I’m ready. What do I do next?
