Tipperary Credit Union – Here to help with back-to-school costs.
Despite the pandemic lockdowns and children being home-schooled for the early part of the year, back-to-school spending is already on the minds of parents as they prepare for the new school year.
The latest Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) survey on back-to-school costs shows the overall spend on school items is up for both primary and secondary schools. The cost of sending a child to primary school this coming year is just shy of €1,200 at €1,186, up €65 on last year, while parents of secondary school children can expect to pay an average of €1,491, up from €1,467 last year.
Pat Shanahan CEO of Tipperary Credit Union said the credit union is aware that covering the costs of back to school can be a big struggle for parents “We are aware that back to school costs can place huge financial pressure on families. We want to reassure parents in the Tipperary and Limerick community that the Credit Union is here to help, anyone who needs help, be it with budgeting for the back-to-school spend or taking out a loan to help cover the costs. We understand that these costs can be a financial burden.”
